Runner Yervand Mkrtchyan becomes European champion in small countries

Yervand Mkrtchyan from Gyumri (running 3000m) became European champion in small countries at the European Championships in small athletics in Liechtenstein.

Gayane Chiloyan, a member of the Armenian national team, won a silver medal in a 400-meter race and Artak Hambardzumyan, a runner-up, won a bronze medal. In the Swedish championship held for the first time in the championship (100m, 200m, 300m, 400m), our boys' quartet, Armen Hovhannisyan, Razmik Mkrtchyan, Narek Ghukasyan and Tigran Mkrtchyan took the third place. 205 athletes from 17 countries took part in the transit exercise. 

16 athletes left for the Armenian national team in the field of athletics. Our athletes took the 5th place in the team competition, leaving behind the teams of Georgia and Azerbaijan.
